A welcome from our school principal, Mr. Coffey:

I am proud to introduce our school to you and invite you to browse our website where you will learn about the bespoke educational experience which is available to our students.

Our mission is to create a caring inclusive environment where each individual is encouraged to develop a sense of honesty, tolerance and responsibility and in which everybody acquires self-confidence to achieve his or her full potential.

Borris Vocational School which is under the trusteeship of Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) has a strong heritage of expressing the core values of ETBI which are excellence in education, care, equality, community and respect.

Excellence in education is to the forefront of all that we do in Borris Vocational School. This can be seen by the volume of students achieving excellence in their State exams. It is also evidenced on a daily basis by the supportive and engaging educational experiences that challenge our students to reach their full potential.

Students have the opportunity to choose a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all our learners. Students are encouraged to set high expectations for themselves both academically and holistically.

Many jobs our current students will have in the future have yet to be created. Therefore, as a school we aim to develop students’ critical thinking abilities, their problem solving, communication and collaborative skills to ensure they are equipped to meet the demands of life-long learning which future careers will require.

Every morning, after breakfast club, each class group is met by their class teacher as part of our pastoral care structure. Every year group is supported by a member of our Assistant Principal Team.

Student voice is very important to us. This is evident with the many committees you can read about on our website. It is also evident by the excellent student-teacher relationships.

It is my pleasure to work on a daily basis with Acting Deputy Principal, Ms Sarah Doyle to support our school community in realising our mission statement and core values. We aim to ensure our school is a happy environment for every member of our community.

Please contact the school’s office if you would like to make an appointment to meet with any member of our staff.
